Our U12 A Team headed to the Seaside last Saturday to face Feinit and a strong difficult breeze that blew across the Pitch making conditions tricky.
Ballyhar started well and it wasn't long before their first goal threat came, a long range free from Bryan Evans going just wide of the post. That seemed to kick Fenit into life and they started to come more and more into the game. They scored two goals on the break in quick succession leaving Ballyhar to face an uphill battle. 2-0 Their heads didn't go down despite the double blow and midway through the first half some of their composure returned and they started to play some neat football. Then just before halftime, Fenit went further ahead and the scoreline didn't really show a true reflection of Ballyhar's work rate in the opening half. H/T 3-0
The second half started with Ballyhar putting Fenits goal under some serious pressure, that was to pay off with a well worked move. Jack Sheehy ran down the right wing to cross the ball in for Jack Cooper who walloped in a fine volley and Ballyhar were back in the game. 3-1 They tried to keep the pressure on Fenit, but unfortunately they hit back with another goal to make it 4-1 with a well taken free kick. With Ballyhar desperate to get more goals back Fenit scored a spectacular long range effort and made it 5-1. Ballyhar showed great character, particularly in the second half and kept on attacking Fenit. They finally got their second goal from a nice through ball in from Bryan Evans to Jack Sheehy who put his chance away. F/T 5-2
The Ballyhar team had 1 or 2 players missing through illness but showed great spirit throughout the game, and only for two spectacular goals from Fenit things could have been a lot different. But that's the way it goes sometimes.
Best for Ballyhar were Jack Cooper, Paddy Hurley and Bryan Evans.
We would like to thank today's hosts Fenit Samphires for their hospitality and wish them well for the remainder of the season.
