U14 Division 1: St Brendan's Park B 2 Ballyhar Dynamos 2

It was clichéd game of 2 halves for our U14's on Saturday as Ballyhar travelled to take on St Brendan's Park in Tralee.

Played on their fantastic new all weather pitch, a very strong breeze aided both teams with Ballyhar playing against it in the first half. The lads did well but just couldn’t get their rhythm going. Park had them under plenty of pressure and got a break midway into half, when a shot hit the post and fell kindly to 1 of their forwards who put ball into the net. Ballyhar did well until just minutes from halftime when they unfortunately conceded a 2nd goal. H/T 2-0

With the elements now at their backs, Ballyhar looked to rally for the 2nd half after a tough first 35 mins. They found their rhythm early and began pushing Park back, getting their just rewards 6 mins in, when Isaac Vickers struck the net. From the restart, Ballyhar pushed on again and 5 mins later, Ryan Quilter headed the ball into the top corner to make it 2-2. Ballyhar had a few golden opportunities to score again before the final whistle but just wasn’t to be.

For a game where the breeze assisted both teams, in the end a draw was a good result especially considering being down 2-0. Well done to the boys for showing good character and maintaining their unbeaten record in Division 1. The top 4 teams go into a playoff, so 3 more games will determine where the lads finish. Best for Ballyhar were Ryan Breen, Sean Brosnan, Conor Edwards and Daniel Downes.
