Our U14s made it 2 wins from 2 on a sunny afternoon in Tralee. Park started the better of the 2 teams and put Ballyhar under some early pressure, but our defence was feeling stingy today and were rock solid throughout the game, restricting Park to only a few shots from distance, that were easily dealt with by Adam Quirke in goals. The game turned in Ballyhar's favour when we were forced into a substitution after 15 mins, with Jack Duggan coming off the bench and making an instant impact. He received the ball down the left hand side, cut back onto his right and unleashed a cracking shot into the far corner of the net to make it 1-0 on 18mins. Ballyhar had now settled into the game with Daithi Allen and Eoin Cremin dominant at the back, and the hard working Luke Bartlett, Adam Fleming, Killian O'Sulivan and the excellent Daniel Ryan giving Park awful problems all game. Ballyhar made it 2-0 when Duggan struck again on 25 mins, this time the ball wasn't cleared from a Fleming corner, that he met sweetly on the volley to give the keeper no chance. Then just before half-time he grabbed his hat-trick when again he cut in from the left after a lovely through ball and rolled it under the park keeper. H/T 0-3
The 2nd half for Ballyhar was all about keeping a clean sheet, with everyone working hard to keep the 3 goal cushion. Subs Aaron Looney and Ruben O’Leary Griffin added some much needed energy early on as the home side pushed to get back in the game. And they held firm until the final minute of the game when Cremin was adjudged to have fouled the smaller Park forward and the referee pointing to the spot. The Park player slotted it home but it was to be the final act and a great 3 points earned for Ballyhar.
Best for Ballyhar were Eoin Cremin, Adam Quirke, Daniel Ryan and the Hat-Trick Hero Jack Duggan who was easily Man of the Match.
