It was honors even at Murt Scott Park on Saturday afternoon for our U14's and while the game lacked a clear winner, it wasn't short of a few goals.
Ballyhar enjoyed a good 1st half going in at the break 2-0 up. Isaac Vicker’s latched onto a ball spilled by the Kenmare keeper to find net on 14mins. The 2nd came from good passing around the edge of the box and with Padraig O’Sullivan finding enough space for a shot on 25mins to give Ballyhar a well deserved lead. Halftime 2-0
Kenmare started the better of the 2 teams in the 2nd half and found a way back into the game after just 2 mins to give them a lift. At this point Ballyhar just couldn’t settle on the ball but got a free kick in Kenmare’s half which was put into the box and converted on 45mins with a well placed header from Arron Moriarty. Daniel Downes struck again on 53 to make it 4-1 to Ballyhar and they seemed to be cruising to victory. It didn’t deter Kenmare though, as they rallied again and narrowed the gap on 57mins scoring from a poorly defended corner 4-2. Ballyhar had to change a few positions when Sean Brosnan came off injured and Kenmare took a hold of game. They scored from a 2nd corner on 65mins to make it 4-3 and then 2 mins later struck a free kick to the roof of Ballyhar net to make it 4-4.
Ballyhar were in the trenches and working really hard to get back into the game but it was the visitors who again got another goal from yet another set-piece to make it 4-5. A shell shocked Ballyhar had to go for it and pushed forward again but with 2 mins remaining Kenmare hit them with another goal on the counter to make it 6-4 to Kenmare.
To their credit this team doesn't know when it's beaten and didn’t give in. With the watch hitting 70mins centre back Kevin O'Shea scored to make it make it 5-6. With only stoppage time remaining Ballyhar pushed forward one last time time and again it was Kevin O’Shea who slid in to square it up for the final time. It was an eventful morning which finished with a good point for both teams. Final score 6-6.
