In a great battle on Saturday morning, Ballyhar lost out on penalties to Castleisland in the U15 Cup to end their season.
Ballyhar had the best of the attacking chances in the first half but failed to hit the target. Castelisland managed to find the net on quick break and scored with their 1st chance on 25 mins which saw the Ballyhatlr down at halftime. H/T 0-1
Ballyhar started the 2nd half well and finally managed to equalise with 10 mins to go when Kevin O'Shea broke through from the back and slotted home. 1-1 Ballyhar had a few great chances to get the winner in normal time only to see shots go wide. F/T 1-1
Extra time still saw ballyhar dominate but just couldn’t find the killer blow. So it all came down to penalties as the only way of settling it. Conor Edwards and Daniel Downes scored for Ballyhar but unfortunately Arron Moriarty and Kealan Riordan had their penalties saved, as Castelisland finished all theirs past Daniel Duggan in goal.
That is the final game of season for the 15’s who were outstanding all season in the Premier despite injuries and some close results going against them. We hope to see all the lads back playing with team again next season with plenty more to come from them. Well done lads.
