Ballyhar started brightly dominating possession in the opening minutesbof this U15 Division 2 clash. Some great link up play between Luke Bartlett, Noah Goodman and Daniel Ryan was an early focal point, but they were unable to break the home sides back line. Then a lack of communication between our centre back and goalkeeper led to the opening goal for Mastergeeha and that was followed up shortly afterwards with their second, coming from a free kick from just outside the box. Ballyhar were very unlucky to be 2 down at the half. H/T 2-0
Ballyhar introduced fresh legs and a few positional changes to try and get back into the game, but again, against the run of play, a foul deemed to be inside the box led to a penalty where Alex Kelly in goal got a hand to it, but was just unable to keep it out. 3-0
Mastergeeha enjoyed a good 10 min spell but the Ballyhar backline of Noah Goodman, Eoin Cremin, Nathan O'Brien & Eoinie Evans worked tirelessly to clear their lines. Killian O'Sullivan played through Pau' one on one with the keeper, only to see his shot go agonisingly wide of the far corner. A minute later, we were through again, but this time Daniel Ryan saw his effort excellently saved by the Mastergeeha keeper. A turnover in midfield by Fionn Clifford saw him pick out Ryan again, whose through ball for Killian O'Sullivan saw him rounding the keeper for the easiest of finishes. The final minutes were played out with chances at both ends but it finished 3-1 to tge home side.
Highly entertaining game played in great spirit by both sides. It's clear to see the improvement in this team from the start of the season. Keep the head up boys, your first win of the season isn't far away.
Thanks to Mastergeeha for a great game and Ref Brian Spillane.
M.O.M Eoin Cremin who was excellent at centre back
