U15 Premier: Ballyhar 3 - Killorglin 2

Our U15 A team got deserved first 3 points of the season in a tough battle at Murt Scott Park on Saturday afternoon.

It was a tightly contested opening 15 minutes with Ballyhar's backline of Adam Fleming, Jamie O'Brien, Daire Cornally & Brendàn Allman withstanding any attack from the away side. The home side broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when a Ryan Quilter corner met the head of Cornally who finished from close range. This lead was extended 10 minutes later with a through ball from Quilter spotting the run of Ryan Vickers who made it 2-0. Excellent work rate from Jamie Murphy, Alan Mrotek & Eoin Casey ensured Ballyhar kept a 2 nil lead. H/T 2-0

Killorglin came out fighting at the start of the 2nd half and persisted with the long ball in the opening 15 minutes but our centre back pairing of Cornally and O'Brien dealt with each one that came their way. The next goal was always going to be crucial, Dylan Fitzgerald working the wing all afternoon turned over the full back and found Quilter who side stepped the defender onto his left and finished clinically to make it 3-0. The introduction of Diarmuid Casey and Paddy O'Shea Cournane was much needed, aiding tiring legs and keeping Ballyhar driving forward. Killorglin created a couple of half chances only for Dan Duggan who was on top form to keep them out. As the game wore on it was far from over, Killorglin scoring twice in the last 6 minutes which made the final whistle a welcome one for all Ballyhar players. F/T 3-2

It was a real team effort with exceptional work rate from the whole squad on the day.

M.O.M was a tough one with several exceptional performances, most notably Alan Mrotek, Daire Cornally, Jamie O'Brien & Ryan Quilter but man of the match goes to Jamie Murphy who's trojan work rate, commanding the midfield played a big part in the 3 points being secured.
